Heavily damaged panel, Hanuman and perhaps Sugriva, standing side by side, looking at the figure below. The figure at the bottom of the panel, is completely lost.

Sugriva, yellow skin, with red face, wearing green upper garment, hands held together in anjali mudra, long nails, jewelry, lower panel completely damaged, might have been the depiction of Sri Rama.

Narrative

Textual Source: Ramayana
Mythological Tale: Hanuman and Sugriva were the devotees of Sri Rama and helped in retrieving Sita from the clutches of Ravana. Hanuman is the monkey god with immense powers, who crossed the ocean towards Lanka in a single stride. Sugriva is the king of Vanaras. Rama helped him defeat his brother Bali and acquire power. Both of them are standing side by side, holding their hands in Anjali mudra. It suggests that the figure at the bottom may have been Sri Rama. The headgear and ornamentation of Hanuman is similar to the costume of Hanuman (vella thadi) in Kadhakali.
