Ananthashayanam

Ananthashayi figure of Lord Vishnu. In this image Vishnu is seen reclining on Anantha, while Sridevi and Bhoodevi are seen sitting beside him near his head and his feet. There are an assembly of devas and sages gathered together in anjali mudra, holding their hands in anjali mudra. Brahma is seen to be grown out of the lotus, seen to be sitting on top of the lotus flower blooming out of Vishnu's navel. There might also be a Shiva linga beside Vishnu's head, but that portion is completely damaged.

There is a lotus flower blooming out of his navel. Brahma is seated in it. Sridevi, Bhoodevi, on either sides of Vishnu. Image of Sridevi is not visible. Bhoodevi sits near the feet of Vishnu. Sridevi sits near the head of Vishnu. The five hoods of Ananda can be seen. Devas wearing crowns on their head, on top of their head, and sages with beards and mustaches with hair in a bun, wearing rudraksha, all holding their hands together in Anjali mudra. Vishnu is said to be one of the three Supreme Gods. He is in charge of sthithi or maintaining equilibrium in the world. He is believed to be residing in the ocean Palazhi where he floats atop the serpent Ananthan. He is said to have two consorts: Sreedevi and Bhoodevi.
