Girijakalyanam

This scene shows the group of wedding guests accompanying Parvathy inorder to witness the union of Shiva and Parvathy. There is green-skinned Indra with eyes all over his body, Narada with his Veena and Garuda in the form of a small-green-skinned boy. There is a sage and a bhoothagana as well. Everyone except Indra and Narada hold their hands up in anjali mudra. There are mashipoovu motif in the background.

Indra is green-skinned, has ornate crown, eyes all over his body; Narada is white-skinned with a white beard and mustache and holding a veena in hishands’ he wears strings of rudraksha as necklace, bracelet, armlet and in his hair. He is wearing red lower garments; Garuda is in the guise of a green-skinned small boy with hands folded in anjali mudra; there are two other sages, one golden-skinned and another green-skinned, both folding their hands in anjali mudra; they have beard and mustaches, with one of them draped in tiger-skin lower garment suggesting he might be a member of Shiva;s army, the bhoothaganas.

Parvati went on a penance to marry Shiva and Shiva finally agreed to the marriage. Being the daughter of Himavan, she was married off to Shiva in the presence of her parents, sages, Devas and bhoothaganas.
